google cloud billing
It was said that google cloud billing was free but i keep getting this One-time prepayment required
Your payment method requires you to make a one-time, US$30.00 prepayment. Once this prepayment is credited to your account, you'll also receive your free trial credits and your free trial will become active. This prepayment is refundable if you choose to close your Cloud billing account. Learn more about payment methods. and when i try to redeem the code i see that i need to have an active billing account

I'm also running into a similar issue now. When I try to sign up for the free trial and link my Google Payments profile and a card already added to Google payments, I get the error saying: "Billing setup can't be completed. This action couldn't be completed. [OR_BACR2_44"]. I've been stuck on the issue for hours now.

Hi victor — to redeem the $150 code you need an active Cloud Billing account, and Google requires a credit or debit card to set one up (even for the Free Tier/Trial) for identity verification — the one-time $30 prepayment is Google's billing verification, not a hackathon fee, and it isn't something we can waive from Devpost. You're welcome to keep trying if you're able, but if you can't complete billing setup the credit can't be redeemed on Google's side. We understand this is a difficult situation, and we hope you can join us for another hackathon soon. Thanks for reaching out.

So basically, the “free” credit requires an active billing account, and activating billing may require a $30 prepayment first. That’s a pretty confusing definition of a free trial.
