Hi,
I have a clarification regarding the Google Cloud billing setup and the $150 hackathon credits.
According to the Hackathon FAQ, the $150 Hackathon credits are separate from the Google Cloud Free Trial and must be requested through the credits form. The FAQ also mentions that the credit should be applied to the correct Google Cloud Billing account.
However, while setting up my Google Cloud billing account in India, I am being asked to make a one-time ₹1,000 prepayment before the billing account becomes active.
Could someone please clarify:
Is the ₹1,000 prepayment a standard Google Cloud billing/payment requirement and separate from the $150 Hackathon credits?
Can I redeem the $150 Hackathon credits after making the ₹1,000 prepayment?
Does the ₹1,000 prepayment count toward the Hackathon credit, or is it completely separate?
If I receive the $150 Hackathon credit, can it be applied to the billing account that is activated using this ₹1,000 prepayment?
Is the ₹1,000 prepayment refundable if the Google Cloud billing account is subsequently closed, as indicated on the Google Cloud billing setup screen?
I have not previously made any payment for a Google Cloud Hackathon. Would this affect my eligibility for the $150 Hackathon credits?
My Google Cloud project is architectops-agent-2026.
I want to make sure I set up the correct billing account before redeeming my one-time Hackathon credit code, so I would appreciate confirmation before I proceed with the ₹1,000 payment.
